OUR STORY

As a nexus for women’s issues in the St. Louis region, we bring together actively engaged citizens from our diverse community to improve economic success for women.

IN THE BEGINNING…

The Women’s Foundation of Greater St. Louis (WFSTL) was founded in 2007 by a group of forward-thinking St. Louis women, led by Pat Rich. Armed with an abundance of energy and a passionate commitment to improving the lives of women in the St. Louis region, the fledgling organization initiated a grassroots effort to raise funds to launch the Women’s Foundation.

Since 2015, WFSTL has been steadily increasing its focus on efforts towards advancing economic success for women. In 2017, a listening tour was conducted that led to the prioritization of grantmaking. In 2018, a policy agenda was developed and WFSTL published the first annual Women in the Workplace: Employment Scorecard.

WFSTL’s activities have continued to develop in new and exciting ways. In addition to cause-driven giving and building relationships with our community, our mission has grown to also incorporate pursuing long-term, transformative change. We are proud to be a nexus for women’s issues in the St. Louis region as we bring together actively engaged citizens from our diverse community to improve economic success for women.  The WFSTL welcomes support from anyone who is committed to removing the societal, policy and economic obstacles so that St. Louis women can achieve economic success.

The WFSTL is affiliated with the national Women’s Funding Network, a group of funding organizations who are changing communities through thoughtful charitable investment.
